TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I have had many opportunities to teach students in various settings including classroom observations/projects, private lessons, and high school band camps. In each of these settings, I practiced teaching students as a whole class as well as individually. I was able to learn about my personal teaching style as well as the different learning styles of students. I have also been involved with various instrument "petting zoos" where children get a chance to try out all of the instruments. Below I have included teaching artifacts from my collegiate career. For more information regarding my teaching experience, please visit the pages provided.
ATHENS COMMUNITY MUSIC SCHOOL
The Athens Community Music School (ACMS) is a program headed by Dr. Elizabeth Braun. The program is through Ohio University and it matches music education students in the School of Music to students in the Athens community that wish to take private lessons. Students meet with instructors once a week and some even prepare to perform in a recital at the end of each semester. I was a part of the ACMS program for two years teaching private clarinet lessons to 3 students. We worked on fundamental techniques, scales, etudes, duets, sight reading, and solo repertoire.
